Volunteer Mission to New Orleans (Catholic Charities)

Operation Helping Hands

NH Catholic Charities is seeking 10 -15 volunteers each for the weeks of September 28 to October 4 and October 26 to November 1 to participate in Operation Helping Hands, a project of New Orleans Catholic Charities. This volunteer ministry focuses on assuring adequate housing for low income persons in New Orleans who are still suffering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina three years later. Volunteers will clean up their neighborhoods and restore privately owned or diocesan housing.  Typical tasks include cleaning debris, yard work, painting and for anyone with specific skills, construction work including carpentry and sheet rocking. Volunteers travel at their own expense. Simple meals and basic accommodations will be provided.
